Immigrants on their way to America
Immigration is the action of permanently moving to a country different than a person's land of origin. The United States has been a very popular country for people to immigrate to for hundreds of years. Traditionally Americans who are living in the United States (natives) do not like immigrants infiltrating the country. There have been various acts and laws passed over the years to prevent an extreme amount of immigrants from entering America. The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed for this exact purpose. In the 1800s and 1920s there was an influx of people immigrating to the United States. During the late 1900s the 2nd red scare in America focused on national and foreign communists infiltrating the United States government, which increased the natives distrust of immigrants.
